QB Issue Resolution:
Ok you receive snack as inventory, you should be doing it this way, review it to be sure
you collect the cash, and enter it as a sales receipt using a service item set up for that. the price you enter should be retail less sales tax, unless you live in a state that does not have sales tax. ie
sales tax is 8.25%
convert to a decimal and add one, .0825 +1 = 1.0825
divide your total amount of sales by that number, $200 in sales / 1.0825 = 184.76 in sales and QB will calculate the sales tax
you restock the snacks – this is when, as pv said, you count what you replace, count per item, ie
milky way 4
create a customer per snack location or machine, and use a sales receipt, list the items you counted, enter the qty replaced, and set all sales prices to zero.
