This article describes how to make a backup of your company file in QuickBooks for Mac.
Detailed Instructions
QuickBooks for Mac 2012 and Prior
Insert a CD or other removable media into the computer. You may see a disk icon appear on your desktop.
Note: If you are using Mac OS 9 and backing up to CD, first save the backup to your desktop and then copy it to the CD.
Choose File > Backup.
Select To A Disk (Mobile Me was discontinued by Apple and will display an error if selected)
In the Where field, select the backup location.
In the Save As field, enter a file name.
Click Save.
Note: If you see Open rather than Save, click Cancel, then click the Backup icon again.
QuickBooks for Mac 2013 and later
Choose File > Backup.
Note: QuickBooks for Mac 2013 creates a .DMG file as a backup. Refer to this article for restoring this type of backup file.
