QB Issue Resolution:

I would not recommend trying to set a charge based upon the number of rooms in your home. HMRC will then have the right to assess you for Capital Gains Tax on that room(s) when you come to sell the property. Over the last several years I have been assessing Home Office costs on a fixed weekly amount of (in my case) £15. This will depend of course on your total household expenses, but if the figure you choose is excessive in the opinion of HMRC, they will ask you to justify it (with evidence), and I don’t think that you will want to do this.
