QB Issue Resolution:
Let’s make your accounts inactive so these will leave the space in the Chart of Accounts page. I’ll guide you through the steps.
- Go to the Gear icon at the upper right.
- Select Chart of Accounts.
- Find the account you’d like to delete.
- Click the View register drop-down arrow from the Action column.
- Choose Make inactive (reduces usage).
- Click Yes to confirm.
The first two screenshots below will show you the last four steps.
For detailed steps, see the Make an account inactive section through this article: Remove Accounts You No Longer Use.
To help you review the accounts you just made inactive, go to Settings above the Action column. Then, select Include inactive under Other. The third screenshot below serves as your visual guide.
When you run reports, please take note that you’ll still see inactive accounts that have transactions in them. This is to ensure the reports are accurate depending on the type and date period.
