QB Issue Resolution:

In the Chart of Accounts all parent accounts and their subaccounts must be of the same account type. If you need to change the type of account for the entire group, you must start with the subaccounts.

To change the account type:

Go to the Gear Icon and click Chart of Accounts.
Highlight the first subaccount and click on Edit on the top right.
On the Account screen first uncheck the Is subaccount box.
Choose the new Category Type from the menu.
Select the appropriate account detail from the list. Note: You will get a notification that changing the account type may affect your accounting, if you want this change to affect the history and your reports click Yes. To leave the account as is click No.
Click Save.

Continue this process for the remaining subaccounts then change the parent account. Once all the accounts reflect the same type we will edit the accounts that were previously the subaccounts.

Highlight the first subaccount and click on Edit on the top right. .
On the Account screen check the Is subaccount box.
