QB Issue Resolution:
Discounts is not considered as a transaction in QB. It is simply an additional option to reduce the amount of transactions such as invoices and sales receipts. In addition, the default filters available in reports do not include discounts unless it’s a custom field that is added on transactions that makes it possible to be added on reports as an additional column.
On the other hand, the Customer Balance Detail Report has the ability to show applied discount in order to show the breakdown of the payment applied to a particular transaction.
As a work around, if you have a specific account created for discount (e.g. Discount Expense/ Income), you may run a Quick Report out of it to see the total amount of discounts given to all customers.
You may pull up this report by going to Lists menu> Chart of Accounts> Right click on the Discount Account and select Quick Report.
