It is a “purchasing error” on your part, but you Paid it and incurred that cost. There is already the Expense; there is not more write off of anything here.

Depending on how much it cost, there can be the treatment of this as an intangible asset = “Customer List” that would be amortized. Since you already know it was a Waste, that is Expense. That’s all it is.

If you paid by credit card, you could dispute the charge.
