QB Issue Resolution:

You are confusing the program with your Data file(s).

There is no reason to uninstall and reinstall the program. That is like uninstalling Word because you want to start a new letter. It is JUST a program.

The Company Data file is yours to control, to use, to start a new one, to remove all transactions from the existing one, whatever. You didn’t “Import” anything. You likely reopened the same data file.

Go to File menu > Close Company.

Now you can see No Company Open. Start from Here.

It is not a good method to launch the program already in a data file. It is best to use Windows menu > Close All. Wait for pop ups, then make your backup. Then, when that is complete, you Close Company. Go in and out through No Company Open.
