QB Issue Resolution:
All you need is an Income type account in your COA to record the cash back rewards. Name it something that would make the most sense to you – I have one called Vendor Incentives and Rewards.
When you receive a rewards check, use the Record Deposit function (Banking Menu). In the Received From, enter the Vendor (or Distributor) name (or leave it blank if you don’t track where the funds came from). In the From Account enter the Income Account created for this purpose. Complete the rest of the details as needed.
