QB Issue Resolution:

Thank you so much for providing me with the complete details of your concern. I’ll share some insights with linking the paychecks on the project’s report.

You’re right. Only the time activities will show in the Time cost by employee or vendor report. At this time, we are unable to include the payroll expenses in the Project profitability report. As a workaround, you can run these reports and export them to Excel.

Let me show you how to run these reports:

Project profitability:

  1. Choose Projects on the left pane and select the project’s name.
  2. Select the Project Reports column.
  3. Click View beside Project profitability.
  4. Select the export icon and choose Export to Excel.

Time cost by employee or vendor:

  1. Select Projects on the left pane and choose the project’s name.
  2. Choose the Project Reports column.
  3. Click View beside Time cost by employee or vendor.
  4. Choose the export icon and select Export to Excel.

Once you’ve exported the reports to Excel, merge them to add the payroll expenses in the Project Profitability report.

The screenshots below will serve as your visual point of view.

That should get you on the right track.

Resolution for Issue 'How do I link an employee’s paycheck (with all expenses – employer and employee paid) already created to a project, so that the profitablity report on my project refelcts the salaried emplyee’s pay as an expense during that project? When I opened the paycheck detail and didn’t see a way to do this there, I tried doing it through the Projects feature but that didn’t work either. In the Projects feature I created an hourly cost rate for the employee, opened the project, added a Time Activity sheet for that employee to that Project. When I saved and closed it shows up on the All Projects page for that specific project under the Time column. However, when I open that specific Project page, it is not showing under the costs on the Overview page nor on the Project Profitability report. I understand I need to use the Time Activity sheets before creating paychecks that I want linked to a Project going forward, but as of right now all my current Projects have very inaccurate reports unless I can link those prior paychecks. Help please! Thanks!' available: Yes (Solved).
