QB Issue Resolution:
In QuickBooks Mac 2013 choose File->Backup and save the file on your desktop. This will result in a disk image file (.dmg extension).
Put the thumb drive in the computer. Drag the .dmg file you created into the thumb drive. It should make a copy of it.
Eject the thumb drive.
Insert the thumb drive in the compute with QuickBooks 2014 for Mac.
Double click on the .dmg file in the thumb drive. This should open it as a window in the Finder.
Open the Documents folder on the Mac.
Drag your QuickBooks Mac 2013 file (extension is .qb2013) from the open window into the documents folder. It should copy. If you have an attachments directory in the open window drag it into the documents folder, too.
Eject the .dmg file (it is a “virtual disk” – you should see it in your Finder window’s side bar).
Launch QuickBooks Mac 2014. Choose File->Open and navigate to your Documents folder. Open the .qb2013 file. It will convert it to 2014.
If you had an attachments directory, choose QuickBooks->Preferences. Then click on the Attachments icon. Choose the pop up to select your attachments directory. Navigate to the Documents folder and select the Attachments directory you placed there.
It sounds complicated but its really just using a disk image, which is a standard Mac thing.
