QB Issue Resolution:

You don’t need to create the accounts and add opening balances. You want to Create the accounts, then make your own Meaningful entries.

Open the chart of accounts and double-click your Fixed Asset cost account to see it as a Register view. Increase the asset by the Basis, and tab around; the offset is Equity.
