QB Issue Resolution:
deposit with the vendor is easy, check or credit card use accounts payable in the expense section and on that same account line select the vendor name in the name column, that sets a vendor credit that you apply to the bill when it comes in
the quarterly rebate however is a different thing, it can not adjust COGS quarterly. a rebate is income, and should be posted as such. I would track the rebate in a separate income account and assign the job to that income transaction
IF your accounting and tax laws allow it, you could also post the rebate to the COGS account instead of an income account, lowering COGS, again assigning the job to the transaction
