QB Issue Resolution:

sub items do not relate to the parent, they are used for organizing the list only

on the PO or the bill (PO’s are optional) you lest each item, the qty, and assign the total cost per item
you also portion out inbound shipping across all items

enter the qty as each

to sell a case

create a group item, list each item and qty in the case, and use that group item to sell a case, you can choose on the group item screen to list the items in the case or not – note that the items always show onscreen, it is print the option applies to – use print preview to check

you have multiple unit of measure that can be enabled, it has problems see this

it would not work for you any way from what I understand if you set a case unit the case unit only applies to that item and not others that might be included. but if you try set the base unit to each – I strongly suggest you create a copy of the file to experiment with multiple u/m since it can not be turned off
