QB Issue Resolution:

It is usually best to have the company file saved on the same drive as your program (speeds up the process, etc.).  You can simply restore the backup to a folder on your main drive and save the backups to the external drive.  (If you ever have problems with the backups, you might need to back up to your hard drive then move to your external drive, as QB sometimes doesn’t play well with external drives.)
