QB Issue Resolution:

I can understand your concern, usually when we see delete, it means to erase or remove the information, and that isn’t what we want.

As of right now there isn’t a way to completely remove an account. So when you delete an account in the chart of accounts in QuickBooks Online, it marks it as inactive and the history remains in the account. You can then find the account if you click on the gear icon above the Action column, and put a check in Include inactive.

If you click on your company name in the top right and click Feedback, you can leave your comments and concerns about this with our product engineers.

I hope this clears your concern, if you have any further questions, go ahead and reply. I will be happy to answer them for you!
