QB Issue Resolution:

I can help you refund the customer’s second payment. First, create an expense transaction to reduce the bank balance (credit) and increase A/R (debit)).


Let me show you how:


To create an expense transaction:

  1. Click Plus icon (+).
  2. Select Check or Expense.
  3. Under the Account column, choose Accounts Receivable.
  4. Enter overpayment amount in the Amount column.
  5. Choose the customer’s name at the top.
  6. Select Save and close.

To pair the Check or Expense to a credit or overpayment that you are refunding:

  1. Click the Plus icon (+).
  2. Select Receive Payment.
  3. Fill out the following fields:
    • Customer
    • Date
    • Payment Method
    • Reference No.
    • Deposit To
  4. Choose the Check or Expense that you created.
  5. Select Save and close.
