QB Issue Resolution:

QBO does not handle it well

no you can not change the account per transaction – I have not checked, but usually when you change the account on an item all past transaction also change

when you use inventory in office in QBO,

1. bring up the item screen and adjust the qty lower by what was used
2. open the chart of accounts, and report on COGS to see the cost posted from that adjustment
3. create a journal entry
debit office expense
credit COGS
for the value you noted

That value is subject to use tax if your state requires it, most do.
