QB Issue Resolution:

I found the actual cause of the problem (and the resulting error message) and the fix for it.

On a help page for trouble installing QuickBooks was a step that said to install or reinstall MSXML 4 SP3. When I tried to do that I got the exact same error. So now I knew where the source of the problem was.

The fix was to go to C:Documents and Settings[your user name]Application DataMicrosoft and rename the Crypto folder. After that MSXML installed just fine and then so did QuickBooks 2014! Problem solved!
