QB Issue Resolution:

You are probably trying to open the backup. QuickBooks stores backups inside of a disk image file (file extension is .dmg). You double click on disk image to mount it – its like a virtual CD-ROM. Inside is the backup file.

If you try to open that backup file you’ll discover that the disk image is read only.

The solution is to drag the backup out of the mounted disk image to another location, like your Documents directory. However make sure that you really want to use the backup. It may be that your QuickBooks file is somewhere else on the drive – you can search for .qb2013 in Spotlight to show all versions of QuickBooks files on your hard disk.
