QB Issue Resolution:
You really should not have the personal bank account in the books at all. I don’t know the local law, but even if the legal ownership is the same, if you ever want to sell the business or get a bank loan, you will need to present financials for only business activity. For a sole trader it’s probably legally okay, to pay for business expenses, with personal funds. You would record that to Contributions (equity-type account – it’s not Drawings) or a loan account (if legal ownership is separate), either with a journal entry: debit the expenses, credit equity/loan account (not a bank account), or you could use an expense type transaction and use a bank-type account, called Owner’s Payments or similar, and periodically zero it out with a transfer type transaction to the equity/loan account (seems that is what you thought of). You would have to go through your personal bank statement every month and find the business transactions, and post them manually.
If you don’t mind the personal bank account in the books, and want to reconcile it, you can post personal activity to the equity/loan account, and periodically zero the balance out with a transfer type transaction also to the equity/loan account. But i don’t see the point, for just a few transactions
To fix what’s been done: I would first zero the balance out of the personal bank account , then disconnect the connection, and in the future do what I described in the last sentence of the first paragraph
