How do you change your Merchant Service Center sign-in in QuickBooks Online?
You change these details in your Intuit account, not inside the Merchant Service Center itself. The Center runs on the same sign-in as QuickBooks Online, so one updated password or email works across every Intuit product you use.
Where do the settings live?
The Merchant Service Center is Intuit’s portal for QuickBooks Payments, where card transactions, fees, and deposits are reviewed. It keeps no separate credentials of its own.
The user ID and password that open it are your Intuit account. That account is edited on Intuit’s account pages, not in the Center’s menus and not in QuickBooks Online company settings.
Reset a forgotten password
If a forgotten user ID or password is blocking sign-in, start with the recovery flow:
- Go to Intuit’s account sign-in page.
- Select the option for a forgotten user ID or password.
- Follow the prompts. A recovery link or one-time code is sent to the email address or phone number on file.
The user ID is often an email address, so check older inboxes before assuming the account is unreachable.
Change details while signed in
When the current password is known, each edit takes about a minute:
- Sign in to your Intuit account.
- Open the Sign in & Security section.
- Select Edit next to the item you are changing.
The editable items cover both the credentials and the contact details used to verify you:
- Email: the primary address for notices and recovery links.
- User ID: the name typed at sign-in.
- Password: a new one takes effect at the next sign-in.
- Phone: the number that receives one-time codes.
- Security question: the fallback question and answer, where your account shows one.
Changing the user ID renames the login rather than creating a new account. Your payment history and QuickBooks Online company access stay attached to the same profile.
What if the code never arrives?
Intuit requires two-factor verification for sign-ins and for sensitive changes such as a new email or password. A one-time code goes to the phone number or email on file, and the change cannot proceed without it. A code may also be requested when you sign in from an unfamiliar device.
If that contact information is outdated, the automated flow offers an alternate identity check. Expect questions about details only the account owner would know, and allow more time than a normal sign-in. When the automated options fail, Intuit’s own account support is the channel that can restore access.
The practical safeguard is to update the email and phone while you can still sign in. An account with current recovery details rarely needs the slower path.
Admins and account owners
A QuickBooks Online admin controls which users can reach the company, but each user’s Intuit password belongs to that user alone. You cannot reset a colleague’s password from company settings; the colleague follows the reset steps above.
The same limit applies to anyone outside Intuit, including us. We cannot view or change your Intuit credentials, so the route runs through the steps above and, for lockouts, Intuit’s own support.
