How to Enter Statutory Paternity Pay

To record Statutory Paternity Pay (SPP) for an employee, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Payroll, then select Employees.
  2. Select the employee’s name.
  3. In the Absences section, select Add absence.
  4. Select the Absence type as Statutory Paternity Pay.
  5. Enter the Start date and End date.
  6. QuickBooks Online calculates the average weekly earnings based on the employee’s pay history. Only use the Override average weekly earnings field if necessary (for example, if there isn’t enough pay history for the software to calculate it automatically).
  7. Select Save.

The Statutory Paternity Pay is calculated and applied automatically when you process the next payroll run for that employee.
