How do I clear temporary Internet files and cache?

Clearing your browser cache and cookies is an effective way to resolve performance issues or login errors in QuickBooks Online. Because QuickBooks Online runs in a web browser, stored temporary files can sometimes cause conflicts with the current version of the site.

The steps to clear your cache depend on the browser you are using. Below are instructions for the most common browsers.

Google Chrome

  1. Click the Three vertical dots (More) in the upper-right corner.
  2. Select More tools > Clear browsing data.
  3. At the top, choose a time range. To clear everything, select All time.
  4. Check the boxes next to Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files.
  5. Click Clear data.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Click the Menu button (three horizontal lines) in the upper-right corner.
  2. Select Settings > Privacy & Security.
  3. Scroll to the Cookies and Site Data section.
  4. Click Clear Data.
  5. Check both boxes and click Clear.
  6. Close Firefox and reopen it.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Click the Settings and more icon (three horizontal dots) in the upper-right corner.
  2. Select Settings > Privacy, search, and services.
  3. Under “Clear browsing data,” click Choose what to clear.
  4. Select the time range (preferably All time) and ensure Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files are selected.
  5. Click Clear now.

Safari (Mac)

  1. In the menu bar at the top of your screen, click Safari.
  2. Select Settings (or Preferences).
  3. Click the Privacy tab.
  4. Click Manage Website Data.
  5. Click Remove All, then click Remove Now.
  6. Go back to the Safari menu and select Clear History. Choose “all history” and click Clear History.

Once you have cleared the cache, close all browser windows completely and restart the browser. Then, log in to QuickBooks Online again.
