How do I create a recurring template?
You can create recurring templates for most types of transactions, such as invoices, expenses, and bills. This helps automate your workflow by automatically creating transactions as scheduled. Note that you cannot create recurring templates for bill payments, customer payments, or time activities.
There are two ways to set up a recurring template:
Create a template from scratch
- Select the Gear icon, then select Recurring Transactions.
- Select New.
- Select the Type of transaction you want to create (for example, Invoice, Expense, or Bill), then select OK.
- Enter a Template name.
- Choose the Type:
- Scheduled: Creates the transaction automatically according to the schedule you set.
- Unscheduled: Saves the template with no schedule; use this as a starting point to create transactions manually.
- Reminder: Prompts you to create the transaction when it is due.
- Fill in the required details for the transaction.
- Select Save template.
Create a template from an existing transaction
- Open the transaction you want to make recurring (for example, an existing invoice).
- At the bottom of the transaction, select Make recurring.
- Enter a Template name and choose the Type (Scheduled, Unscheduled, or Reminder).
- Review the details and adjust the Interval or schedule as needed.
- Select Save template.
To use a saved template later, go to the Gear icon and select Recurring Transactions. Find the template in the list, select the appropriate action from the Use drop-down menu (such as Use to create a single instance or Edit to change the template), and proceed.
