How to Give Client Access

To give your client access to your QuickBooks Online company, you must invite them as a user. You can only do this if you are a Master Admin or Company Admin.

  1. Select the Settings gear icon in the upper-right corner.
  2. Select Manage Users.
  3. Select Add user.
  4. Choose the user type that fits the client’s role:
    • Standard or custom user: Select this for clients who need full access or specific limited access to the company file.
    • Reports only: Select this if the client should only be able to view reports.
    • Time tracking only: Select this if the client needs to enter timesheets (requires QuickBooks Online Plus or Advanced).
  5. Select Next and follow the on-screen steps to choose the specific access rights for that user type.
  6. Enter the client’s email address and name.
  7. Select Next, then review the info and select Finish.

The client will receive an email invitation to create their own Intuit account and sign in.
