Recurring Transactions Show Old Customer Information

If a recurring transaction is displaying outdated customer details, it usually means the address or contact info was manually entered directly on the template rather than linked to the customer record. QuickBooks Online preserves manually entered data to prevent unintended overwrites, so updates made in the customer profile will not automatically flow to that specific template.

To force the template to pull the current information from the customer profile, follow these steps:

  1. Select the Gear icon, then choose Recurring Transactions.
  2. Find the appropriate recurring transaction in the list and select Edit.
  3. In the Customer (or Client/Donor) field, select the drop-down arrow and choose a different customer name.
  4. Click the Customer drop-down menu again and re-select the original customer.
  5. Verify that the address and contact details have updated to match the current customer record.
  6. Select Save template.
