Accounting Tasks: When I do a JE to job cost my labor,it will always use the first line name and not apply to the other names on the JE.And it will apply the credit side of the JE also,so that my labor cost sometimes show as a negative.How do I correct this?

That’s a known bug with JEs. Set up a JE clearing account (like a bank account) and enter that account (with no amounts or names) on the first line. That will avoid the bug and provide you with a register with all the JEs in it too. 🙂

If you are tracking perpetual inventory in QB (i.e. each item), then you should never make a JE for inventory in QB. You can’t enter items and quantities on a JE.

Accounting Tasks: Is there a way to print out all my general journal entries together instead of separately?

Here’s one way to do that (this will create a Memorized Report you can use again).

Go to Reports > Accountant & Taxes > Journal

When the report opens, click Modify Report > click the Filters tab > choose the Filter “Transaction Type”
