After you change the recent list to a larger number and when you then open additional files they’re added to the list.

Files don’t need to be on the recent file list to open them. You can create and use as many files as you want.

There shouldn’t be any additional entry required.  If you have entered the mortgage advance and closing costs etc, then the net cash should just be in the bank.
Example:
Mortgage advance: Cr Mortgage payable $500,000
Legal closing: Dr Legal expense $500.00
HST on legal: Dr HST payable $65.00
Net cash: Dr Bank account $499,435.00
