the only way to handle this situation is when you receive that sub assembly, you stock it as two items

I don’t know what an “RO” is; sorry.

A Purchase Order is meant to be used for you to submit to vendors for quotes, and/or for tracking fulfillment of orders you placed with others.

An Assembly Item is something you “build” internally.
