I wouldn’t count on it being automatic, or even fast.  Call Intuit and tell them the facts and request a refund.  You might have to keep after them about it.

automatic: Can I change the beginning number for the automatic sequential numbering of invoices?

If you create a new invoice and enter a new number and then record the invoice, that will reset the sequence.  Editing existing invoices will not.

Does this happen to your other memorized transactions? If so, let’s repair your template by resorting the list:
