What year QB and what year is the back up file from?

Is the back up file saved to the computer hard drive before you use restore (not open), it needs to be on the same hard drive

back up file: I am using a QB Pro 2012. I would like to change my computer. This version of QB does not support windows 10. What is the recommendation?

No options, you will have to purchase a new version of 2018

in the old version create a back up file from the file menu, save to a usb stick

on the new machine, copy from the usb stick to the hard drive, then restore the data file in 2018
