BOM: Change amount of decimal places

you can not change the number of decimals in the qty block of a BOM

and keep in mind that if you do use decimals they must add up to one, QB does not do partial qty very well, 0.25, 0.125 works fine. 0.33 does not.

PL look at your last inventory part item in BOM. You need 6 quantity to build whereas you have only 1 quantity on hand.

That’s why the build shows maximum number you can build is 0.16666

If each item in the BOM has an average cost, then when you issue the build command for the assembly item, QB removes the qty of each inventory item needed and adds up the average costs of those items used. That total becomes the assembly item average cost.

You can not do that in QB.

An assembly item build does not allow for waste or drops.  The assembly item uses the complete item in the BOM

The answer depends on how you record and report your inventory (assuming you have inventory).
