I start files for other companies all the time. There is no restriction on this; just never “sign in” as your own Intuit ID, of course, for purposes of payroll or merchant account processing or banking or even Master Account Administrator.

Business type: How do I record a cash sale where I keep the cash for myself? Business type is Sole Proprietor. I know I would use the Owner Draw to take the money out

sort of

record the sale and deposit to a cash type bank account

then write a “check” on the cash bank account and use owner equity drawing as the expense for the “check”

I recommend you have the following for owner/partner equity accounts  (one set for each partner if a partnership)
