Other Charge items are in desktop, they do not exist in QBO, and this thread is labeled as your using QBO

In QBO you use a service item instead of other charge, it really makes no difference, the account you select on the item determines what account it posts to.

There is no restriction on how much you charge your customer for anything. $5 an hour or $500 an hour, intuit does not care, as long as you pay your subscription, they get their money and are happy

“I tried entering it as a Received Inventory with Bill”

WHich means yo uare trying to show you got something Not Yet paid for…

Use a service item, select both the expense account and the income account that you use for that service. Use that item on both a purchase and a sales invoice or sales receipt

It sounds like the employee is not set up to use time for payroll. In this case, if you have the option to pull last weeks payroll then the check’s default hours and the selection of items used on the earnings table are pulled from the last paycheck.
