chart of accts: How do I change the detail type in my chart of accounts?

You need to edit the acct. itself. Click Gear>all lists>chart of accts. Find the acct. and under the use register to the right –dropdown select edit. The screen to change the detail type will be there.

You should be able to go to file>new company>create a copy from existing. That will create a new file with all of the same vendors, customers, chart of accts. (Lists). Is that what you are looking for?
