check numbers: In write checks the check numbers don’t update after I print checks for payroll or pay bills. Can it be synced to keep correct check number?

Where does the check number not update?  Do you mean that next time you go to print checks the number is not 1+ the last check number from the last time you printed a check?  That’s what it should do…

Go to Edit>Preferences>Checking (in left column)>Compnay Preferences>Uncheck box for Warn about duplicate check numbers.
