I don’t know about Canada; in the US, in QB, you simply link the Payroll Items to the account(s) you need this to flow into. If I have a regular job and a CIP project inhouse, then I would have two payroll items:

Hourly Pay <== payroll expense

Hourly Spec Pay <== […]
