check company settings, automation, it sounds like you have the setting to automatically apply credits set to on.  With that set to on if there is a credit, it will pay the invoice

Company Settings: Hello, my userid is [removed] and is setup as Admin. But I am unable to find the Billing & Subscription Tab Settings. Can you please check.

To find ‘Bills and expenses‘ in QuickBooks, please click the Gear icon and choose Company Settings. You’ll be able to find ‘Bills and expenses‘ in the left panel.

Company Settings: Hi can i get my quickbooks invoice emailed over to me, paid 21.60 on 4th April. Thanks

Quickbooks does not email invoices or even paid receipts. You are supposed to access your payment record from within your company settings, billing and subscriptions, accessed from the gear icon.
