QB Issue Resolution:
Don’t mix up your perspectives. The donor doesn’t need Your Deposit to be their date. They issue the check and date it Dec 31 and that is Their Date, not Yours. What you have is Constructive Receipt = Your Date. This is one of the problems with everyone relying on electronic banking as well; that download is not Your date for your own checks that the bank processed. You are supposed to use Your Date for what you do, when you do it. The Sales Receipt is the date you got the check; the Deposit date is the date you deposited the check. The Sales Receipt can create the entry to the bank = the one date; or, if you use Undeposited Funds, you have the Holding process and the deposit is not the same date as the sales receipt, and that is why Deposits are not Income. The sales receipt created the income, already.
