How do you send product feedback to QuickBooks Online?

Last reviewed 2026-09-04

QuickBooks Online has a built-in feedback tool that sends product suggestions to Intuit. This page covers how to use it, what it cannot do, and the product limits that draw the most requests.

How do you send product feedback to QuickBooks Online?

The form lives inside the product itself.

  1. Select the Settings gear icon.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Type your suggestion in the panel that opens.
  4. Select Send.

The panel asks for little more than a text box, so the words you type carry all the detail. Intuit collects these notes for its product team. You will not get a reply, and nothing changes in your account at the moment you send it.

If the entry has moved in your copy of the software, look for a feedback option inside Settings or the Help menu. The form itself is the goal.

Feedback is not a support channel

The tool reaches Intuit’s engineers as a suggestion, not as a ticket. Nobody opens your file, checks your billing, or fixes a stuck transaction because of it. It cannot pause a subscription or reverse a charge.

Problems like those belong with Intuit’s own support desk, which offers chat and callback options a suggestion box does not. That desk is the vendor’s channel, not ours. Bug reports belong there too, because an agent can capture details a form cannot. We are an independent firm that works with QuickBooks data, and we have no access to your Intuit account.

Three limits that draw the most suggestions

These three come up year after year, partly because no setting in the software unlocks them. Each one is a design decision on Intuit’s side, and each has a workaround of sorts.

Direct deposit stops at employees and vendors. The software can direct-deposit payroll and vendor payments. It cannot direct-deposit an equity distribution to an officer, so you have to print those checks or write them by hand.

Email templates offer a fixed set of data fields. When you customize the standard email template, the dropdown of merge fields is closed. Custom fields you added to your forms do not appear in it, so you have no clean way to push a tracking number onto every invoice you email.

Imported invoices do not add stock. An imported sales form records the sale, but it does not increase inventory on hand. Quantities move through purchases, opening balances, and inventory adjustments. If your goal is to load items, the import tools for the product list are the place to start.

How should you word a suggestion?

Short and specific wins. One clear line states a request better than a paragraph of frustration, because a product team can act on it. Two sentences are plenty: one for the request, one for the reason it matters.

“Add direct deposit support for officer equity distributions” is a request an engineer can size and route. Name the screen, name the field, and say what outcome you need. A note such as “include custom fields in the email merge list” tells Intuit exactly where the gap is.

Does feedback change the product?

Sometimes, and slowly. Intuit builds on its own schedule and says little about what is coming. A request may ship in a year, in a different form, or never.

Feedback also competes with every other request Intuit receives, and the loudest requests do not always win. Small gaps, like a missing merge field, can sit unfixed for a long time. The three limits above have stood for years.

If a limit blocks you today, the workarounds are the ones the software already offers. Print the distribution check, put the tracking number in the message block, or move stock with the transaction the software expects. Building your process around an unshipped feature is the risky choice.
