QB Issue Resolution:

You are probably using Intuit Full Service Payroll, which exports as IIF. Personally I prefer Intuit Online Payroll, which integrates directly into QuickBooks mac, and is accessed from the Employees->Payroll menu.

However you should be able to just hit cancel when QuickBooks requests that you back up and the import will continue just fine. Be sure to backup your data often though – I think 2012 will automatically backup on quit unattended if you set that up in Preferences->Backup.

Resolution for Issue 'When I export payroll from Intuit payroll program I get this message before I can import “Before importing the data file a backup must be made” I have to do this before I can import. How can I stop this?' available: Yes (Solved).
