QB Issue Resolution:
Allow me to explain how this feature works.
By design, the system will always use the next number from the last used check number. There’s no option to turn this off, but you do have the option to edit it whenever you create a new check.
To avoid duplicate check numbers, please make sure that the warning feature of using the same check number is enabled. This way you can re-use previous check numbers.
- Click the Gear icon then select Account and Settings.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Look for the Other preferences section.
- Enable the Warn if duplicate check number is used feature.
